Prayers and Squares

The purpose of Prayers & Squares is to promote prayer through the use of quilts.

Prayers and Squares is an interfaith outreach organization that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand tied quilt. We meet at the church every Thursday afternoon from 1 pm to 4 pm to work on these quilts. We welcome all who are interested in making quilts; from those who are just beginning and wanting to learn how to quilt, to those who have been quilting for many years. You don’t have to be a member of this church. People from the community are more than welcome. We have a great time together playing with needles and fabrics and thread.

Our motto is “it’s not about the quilt; it’s all about the prayers.”

As each knot is tied, a prayer is offered for a person in need - someone who has asked us to pray for them. The finished quilt goes to that person as a silent testimony to our belief in the power of prayer. These quilts truly can be called “comforters.”

This is a recent quilt that was a special request for a cancer patient. We were able to finish this in under a week from the time of receiving the fabric to the delivery to the recipient, two days before he passed away. He and his family were active motorcycle riders and expressed feeling blessed to receive both the quilt and the prayers that went into it.
